Solar Power
It is a challenge to find a space for solar panels that is not used by other devices, is out of traffic and is not impacted by shading

Yet solar is far too attractive to pass up as part of the energy-source mix.
Provisions are made for mounting flexible and step-tolerant panels at the sides of the pilot-house roof. The space suffices for about 500 W capacity.
At 50% yield (due to shading by boom, clouds, sail and lines) this provides 2kWh at 8 hours daylight and 4kWh at 16 hours, which is available in the Summer above 45 degrees latitude.

The pilot house roof is approximately 3 m long; allowing for 3 panels of approximately 1 x .5 m on each side in an L configuration.
